Beginning Tuesday, March 24th at 9:00 p.m. and continuing through Tuesday, March 31st at 9:00 p.m. the existing Central Street railroad crossing in Windsor will be closed to through traffic to allow for improvements to the crossing.
Additionally, between Friday, March 27th at 9:00 p.m. and Monday, March 30th at 5:00 a.m., passengers will not be able to board trains from the west platform adjacent to the station building and instead only board trains from the east platform. To access the east platform, passengers will need to use Batchelder Road while Central Street is closed.
There will be some construction noise throughout this period and temporary lighting to support overnight work in the area.
Traffic personnel will be in place during construction. Signs, variable message boards and detour routes will be posted on-site to alert the public of the detour/closure.

Due to recent inclement weather, below is a revised schedule for the following railroad crossings in Windsor. The crossings will be closed to through traffic to accommodate railroad crossing activity, including new drainage, curbing, sidewalks and signage, as well as roadway paving:

The final paving work at various railroad crossings in Wallingford, previously scheduled for Monday, August 14th, will now begin on Tuesday, August 15th and conclude by Friday, August 18th. Final paving will occur daily at various crossings during the nighttime hours of 6:30 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. and will allow crews to work at multiple crossings each day and reduce daytime traffic impacts.
The paving work will require a road closure at the Toelles Road and Hall Avenue crossings and one-way alternating traffic at the Quinnipiac Street, Parker Street, North Plains Highway and Pent Highway crossings.

The state-of-the-art Track Construction Machine (TCM) is back in Connecticut this summer constructing ten miles of track between Meriden and Newington! On July 25, 2017, the TCM was in Berlin and Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner James Redeker visited the construction site and spoke with crews about the progress being made to date.
The TCM first appeared in Connecticut in October 2016 to install nearly nine miles of track between North Haven and Meriden. To watch a video showcasing the TCM in action click here and to view TCM photos please click here.
As construction activity continues at various grade crossings in Wallingford throughout the month of July, please note that there has been an adjustment to the timeframe of construction at the existing Toelles Road grade crossing. Beginning on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 7:00 a.m. and continuing through Monday, July 17 at 5:00 p.m. this grade crossing will be closed to traffic to accommodate track construction and roadway work. Due to the amount of work needed at this crossing, weekend hours are necessary and it is anticipated that this will be the only crossing requiring weekend hours.
A temporary grade crossing, located approximately 100-feet north of the existing Toelles Road grade crossing, will be available for use by emergency vehicles only. Amtrak and traffic personnel will be on-site during the closure to assist these vehicles to cross the tracks. Signs alerting the public to the road closure and detours will be posted prior to the road closure.

Beginning Friday, June 23rd and continuing through Friday, June 30th, State Street between East Main Street and Brook Street in Meriden will have internment lane shift patterns during the weekday hours of 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. to allow milling and paving of State Street for the new CTrail Hartford Line Meriden Station.

The Route 150 Bridge, located between Main Street and South Broad Street in Wallingford will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic for a three-week period in June 2017.
The closure will begin on Monday, June 5th at 7:00 a.m. and continue through Sunday, June 25th at 7:00 a.m. The work will include, but not limited to, installation and repairs of supporting bridge structures, such as retaining walls and joints, as well as preparation of the rail bed for a new track.

Beginning March 27th and concluding by April 10th, there will be construction activity to replace the entrance canopy in front of State Street Station in New Haven. During construction, access to the pedestrian bridge will remain open and there will be no disruption to train service.
Removal of the existing canopy and installation of the new canopy in front of the existing pedestrian bridge will occur during nighttime hours and the canopy to the north will be assembled during the daytime hours. There will be construction noise throughout this period and temporary lighting to support overnight work in the area. As needed, pedestrian traffic will be directed away from construction areas to ensure safety.
Access to the north and south driveways will be closed throughout construction until the crane leaves the site. However, the south sidewalk will remain open at all times and traffic patterns on State Street will allow for pedestrian drop off and pick up during peak train service hours of 7:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. During this time, New Haven Police Department will be on site to safely direct pedestrians to the sidewalk.

This video shows the installation of the new 31 foot long pedestrian bridge connecting the new entry to the stair and elevator tower at State Street Station in New Haven.
Construction crews installed the bridge on February 22, 2017.
This work is part of the $10 million federal Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant that the State of Connecticut received in September 2013. The grant provides the funding for the construction of a second platform at the station, which will expand the station’s ability to handle additional rail passenger services while mitigating delays and congestion on the busy Northeast Corridor.
Highlights of the project consist of:
• Construction of a 400 foot fully ADA compliant high-level train platform,
• 31 foot long pedestrian bridge connecting the entry to the stair tower,
• Canopies covering a portion of the platform,
• State-of-the-art video surveillance and passenger information systems,
• Installation of fiber optic cabling, connecting Amtrak and Metro-North Railroad, and;
• Communications networks to support surveillance and information systems.
This project began in Spring 2016 and is estimated to be completed in Fall 2017.

Traffic will be detoured to North Colony Road and Church Street. Starting Friday 7/29/2016 at 8pm until Sunday 7/31/2016 at 5am AMTRAK will be installing track in the area of Parker Street., Hall Avenue and Quinnipiac Street. There will be the potential for intermittent short term (5-15 minute) road closures.
Existing Wallingford Station will remain open throughout the weekend construction timeframe to support Amtrak passengers boarding trains and busses.
At a future time to be determined, each of the grade crossings will undergo a final paving.

Construction Update: Towns of Berlin and Newington
Starting on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 1:00 AM and ending by August 26, 2016, The Middlesex Corp. will be performing drilling operations for installing new retaining walls to be placed along the Amtrak Right-of-Way in the Towns of Berlin and Newington.
